How Pericles used Perspective

There is a story about the legendary Athenian general named Pericles who set off on a naval mission in the Peloponnesian War. 

Suddenly, the sun was eclipsed and his fleet of warships was cast into darkness. The men aboard started to panic, but Pericles was unflustered. 

In response to the panic, Pericles took off his cloak, covered a soldiers face, and asked him if he was afraid of what he saw.
