In our culture, Halloween has become synonymous with costumes focused on the dead and the spirit world, from ghosts and zombies to wizards and witches. Also as a day when children go from door-to-door saying “trick or treat” in expectation of receiving sweets. Despite the idea of Halloween being unknown to the ancient Stoics, if seen through the lens of Stoicism, the iconic day can lead to unexpected wisdom. Its history is also fascinating and can be traced back to the festival of Samhain in Ireland.
