Memento Mori
The concept of Memento Mori; Latin for "Remember your death" is a powerful tool for putting life into perspective and is a central piece of Stoic philosophy.
By reminding ourselves that our time could be up at any moment, we feel a sense of urgency to live purposefully, while we still can.
Rather than be depressed with the thought of death, Stoics use it as motivation to self-reflect on their actions, determine what the best course of action is, and shake-up their habits accordingly.Â
But it wasn't only the Stoics who took advantage of such a concept. High achievers throughout history have used "Memento Mori" to gain perspective, keep focused on what truly matters, and get the most out of life.
