Ask any stranger to describe a stoic and most describe a steadfast character who is able to endure anything without complaint. In fact, if you google Stoic, you'll get a definition from The American Heritage Dictionary with the following:

"One who is seemingly indifferent to or unaffected by joy, grief, pleasure, or pain."
